Hyderabad: Mumbai-based facility management firm Unify has announced that it will be recruiting about 10,000 people across India by the end of this year. Among them, over 1,500 people will be hired from Telangana alone. The company grew over 60 per cent Y-o-Y and has its presence throughout the country at 145 locations.
Amit Suryavanshi, Director, Unify Facility Management Private Limited said, "The Indian organised facility management services market is expected to grow at a CAGR of more than 20 per cent over the next five years. This growth is driven by the growth in the retail, real estate, manufacturing, and logistics sectors. Hyderabad is a major market for us and it is key to our growth in southern India."
The facilities management market is still dominated by unorganised service providers, accounting for nearly 65 per cent of the market size as opposed to the 35 per cent that is shared amongst organised service providers such as Unify. However, as the country develops, the balance between the unorganised to the organised players may flip in the next decade, he informed.
Hyderabad is among 10 high-growth cities in the country with robust retail and IT ecosystem. The city recorded around 4 lakh sq ft of leasing across malls and main streets, registering a staggering growth of 81.8 per cent over the previous quarter. Many companies are also looking beyond the capital city by expanding operations to tier-2 cities of Telangana.
"Retail space of 5.5-6 lakh million sq ft is coming up in the State over next 2-3 years. This would result in increased opportunities and consolidation of the service providers. Also, the labour force that worked with unorganised or non-compliant service providers will be happy to work with companies that adhere to labour laws and offer them benefits that they didn't receive earlier in their careers," Amit said.
"Unify has the mandate for managing 22 malls, the highest for any facility management player in India. The company has achieved revenue of Rs 175 crore in the last fiscal year, and aims to reach Rs 1,000 crore next five years," he adds.
